Violet’s Mom Forgets a Crucial Detail

(My Mom was driving me to the local park, so that I could have a walk around.)
Mom: Are you sure you want to go? It's really foggy…
Me: Mom, I'm blind, it doesn't matter if it's foggy or not!
Mom: Oh yeah…

Still It’s amazing how a blind person is able to manage to go to this site and upload this fail

  2. Evilbeagle says:

With that mindset, why leave the house ever?

    • Xopher says:

Because you being perfectly safe isn’t a reasonable thing. But being aware that it’s foggy might make a person decide to be more alert.

Or maybe not. Never having been blind, I’m not really familiar with what the safety/freedom tradeoffs are.

  3. SnowF says:

How did she post this if shes “Blind?”

    • You do know there’s software and hardware which can allow someone who’s blind to use a computer, right?

Furthermore, who’s to say a friend didn’t upload it for her?

      • VickyLee says:

Agreed- I did work for our school’s accessibility center. There’s plenty of voice and other software to allow someone who is vision impaired to use the computer (and don’t forget, most people do use the keyboard without even looking at it). Techology does have its good points :)

  4. randomnesssss says:

i wonder how this blind guy even knew how to come to this site and post this if.. hes blind

    • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA says:

The name says Violet, so we can assume its a she, and there are such things as braille keyboards and software that allows blind people to use a computer.

  5. person6000000000 says:

How does a blind person engage in the internetz? :S

    • Xopher says:

Actually when I started working at Michigan State University’s Artificial Language Lab in 1978, they had already developed a talking terminal that would let a blind person use a computer. Since that even predates the web, I think we can assume that the technology has advanced considerably since then!

Also, you can have someone type stuff for you.

      • AcerJ says:

I know someone who is deaf-blind and he has a special braille reader. Granted it can only go so far though, we are asked not to use capital letters and lots of symbols, for example, since it takes up more room on the reader. He can use forums and even chatrooms with the thing. Yay for modern science!

  6. PapushiSun says:

Who rides a bike in the fog?

  7. kim says:

Isn’t it great that Violets mom isn’t thinking of her daughter in terms of “handicap”? She is just being a mom.

  8. KMK336 says:

Dumbest people are in comment section.

  9. trollgirl says:

I think you guys are forgetting a crucial detail. If she was blind, HOW THE HELL IS SHE PUTTING THIS ON THE INTERNET!?

  10. Mio-chan says:

I would post a comment, but she wouldn’t be able to read and enjoy it. :\

    • Kat says:

If there are devices to help blind people use computers there must also be technical ways for them to read or hear what is on the screen. Otherwise it would be a little bit daft, wouldn’t it? So post ahead….

  11. Ohhonestly says:

There is, indeed, text-to-speech software. Dragon among others makes speech to text software. Being blind doesn’t mean no computer usage.

  12. Gaiwa says:

It seems like half of the people here think blind people don’t use the internet or computers at all…

Well, they do (as others already explained).
